Papermint

Privacy Policy

Updated 26 October 2026

Papermint has no account and no sign-in, and we run no server that receives your documents or personal information. Your PDFs, scans, signatures and notes stay on your iPhone, or in your own iCloud if you turn on iCloud Sync.

Your documents

Documents you import are stored in the Papermint folder on your device, which you can see in the Files app. Documents you open from Files or other apps stay where they are; Papermint only remembers a link to them. Reading, marking up, filling, signing, scanning, text recognition, redaction, compression and password protection all happen on your device. Your documents are never sent to us or to anyone else.

What the app keeps on your device

None of this is sent to us. It is removed when you delete the app. Documents in your own iCloud Drive stay there.

iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is off until you turn it on. Then your documents are stored in your own iCloud Drive, in a Papermint folder, and your last-read page syncs through iCloud. If you also turn on Sync my signature, your signature is stored in your private iCloud database as an encrypted record. This data goes only to your own iCloud account, and we can't see it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy. Turning sync off never deletes your documents.

Camera and photos

The camera is used only when you scan a paper document. Photos are read only when you pick them to make a PDF, and page images are saved to Photos only when you ask. Everything is processed on your device.

Apple Intelligence and translation

Summaries, questions about a document and translation use Apple's on-device models, on devices that support them. Your document's text is processed on your device. The first time you translate into a language, Apple may download that language to your device.

Buying Papermint Pro

Papermint Pro is an optional one-time purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. RevenueCat, Inc. checks the purchase for us so that Pro can be restored after a reinstall or on a new device. To do that it receives your App Store purchase history and a random identifier the app creates. It does not receive your name, your email address or any of your documents. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

No tracking, ads or analytics

Papermint doesn't track you across apps or websites, doesn't use advertising identifiers, and contains no advertising or analytics software.

If you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write or attach, and use it only to reply. Please don't attach documents that contain sensitive information.

Children

Papermint doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
